A lovely shared experience in a well equipped mansion in the center of New York

We loved staying in Outsite New York, the rooms were clean, the common areas were well equipped and it was overall a spacious building. We met a lot of people and it was very fascinating to share our experiences together. I love this concept and we will definitely try it again in other Outsites around the world

Vibrant & cozy

Another wonderful stay at Outsite! The location was perfect and close to so many attractions and food spots within the city. I can’t wait to come back!

Unmatched location

The location was great, the building could use a makeover but I get it's a brownstone. It's a pity that is getting closed because I would have liked to stay again here on my next visit to NYC.

Great location and shared spaces, but expensive for what you get

Outsite Chelsea is in an excellent location, surrounded by great places to eat and with easy access to the E subway line. The building is nicely finished, and the shared spaces are a real highlight, particularly the well-equipped kitchen, garden, and rooftop deck. The rooms, however, are small, sparse, and rather impersonal. Mine had an ensuite bathroom, although it was tiny, while many rooms share bathrooms. The synthetic duvet was also uncomfortably hot at night. I asked but it was the only option. Overall, the property feels rather like an upmarket student dormitory. A few thoughtful touches could make the bedrooms considerably more welcoming. At around $330 per night, even after discounts and paying for an additional annual membership, it's not cheap. My biggest disappointment was the lack of responsive on-site support. I accidentally left a jacket behind, and it took two days to receive a response from the person responsible for the property. It wasn't found. When you're paying these rates, that level of service really isn't acceptable. Would I stay again? Possibly. If Outsite were significantly cheaper than comparable hotels, the location and communal facilities would make it worth considering. But at similar prices, I'd choose the comfort, privacy, and service of a good hotel. It's a promising concept, but the accommodation and service need to match the price.

Nice neighborhood

Lovely stay in Chelsea. My room on the 4th floor was a nice size. Sure, the AC was glitchy and the bathroom handle wasn’t secure but no dealbreakers for me.

Really enjoyed this location. Great Barcelona neighborhood and easily walkable and accessible to transit. Lacked social atmosphere like other locations, not the typical Outsite social community and demographic.

Well located social hostel with good workspace

The hostel was fantastic. The coworking space is good and enough space for multiple people. The kitchen is very well equipped and has good equipment. The balcony and pool/restaurant area are great; beautiful for a sunset and enjoyed the sunset DJ set one night. The location is great as its right in town and the hostel has been very social so there you can meet lots of people.

Lovely housemates and Olivia was super responsive

Olivia was incredibly responsive and always available whenever we had any issues with the house. From that perspective alone, I would happily give the experience 5/5. My main concern, however, was the room itself. I stayed in the Venice room for a week, and personally, I think that’s about the maximum length of stay I would recommend for that particular room. I understand that it’s the cheapest room in the house, and I wasn’t expecting anything particularly spacious or luxurious. In fact, the size wasn’t my issue at all. The room was clean, and I was perfectly happy with its dimensions for a short stay (sub 10 days). My concern was that it felt more like a converted closet than a proper bedroom, particularly because of the door. The door resembles a wardrobe or closet door rather than a conventional bedroom door, and the way it closes offers very little privacy or sound insulation. You can hear virtually everything happening in the living room, and conversely, people in the living room can hear what’s happening inside the bedroom. There is also a visible gap between the door and the wall, which means someone could potentially look into the room. Personally, I was fortunate because I’m a very heavy sleeper and fall asleep quickly, so noise wasn’t a major problem for me. However, I can easily imagine someone who is a lighter sleeper struggling to fall asleep or stay asleep in that room. Thankfully, my housemates were absolutely wonderful, genuinely the highlight of my stay, and everyone was respectful, so I didn’t experience any uncomfortable situations. Overall, I appreciated Olivia’s excellent communication and the lovely people I shared the house with. I just think that, regardless of price, a bedroom should provide a reasonable level of privacy, and the Venice room would benefit enormously from having a proper door.

If you want to be in the hottest area in CDMX, not creazy expensive place while great accomodations, this is the one
