‍Where to stay in Cascais‍

‍
Cascais is divided into four civil parishes, or "frequesias". Each parish is unique and maintains its own identity and atmosphere. The parishes are as follows:
‍
Alcabideche
Situated on the north end of Cascais, Alcabideche is a relaxed, more residential area, great for those wanting to escape the touristic side of Cascais. This area is home to one of Portugal's most beautiful beaches, Praia do Guincho, as well as Outsite Cascais - Guincho. If you're looking for an especially scenic destination, well connected to downtown Cascais and Lisbon, with great seafood and stunning sunset views, this is the place.
‍
Carcavelos and Parede
Carcavelos is a beach town located halfway between Lisbon and Cascais, though it belongs to Cascais. It's one of the longest beaches in Cascais and therefore attracts a lot of visitors. It's especially popular among surfers, as the swell here is strong and consistent. Parede also has great beaches, with restaurants and bars lining the seaside.

Cascais and Estoril
The posher of the parishes, Cascais and Estoril is the downtown area where you'll find the majority of luxury hotels, boutique shops, and attractions. Estoril in particular is known for its abundance of casinos and luxury hotels.
‍
São Domingos de Rana
This is a very old and historic area. It's quieter than other parishes, and slightly more inland, though still close to the sea.
‍

Digital Nomad Communities in Cascais

Its beachfront location, close proximity to Lisbon, and natural beauty are the obvious draws to the city, but look a little closer and you'll see the abundance of resources in place for digital nomads in Cascais. There's a lot of enthusiasm towards the digital nomad community, and initiatives have been set in place by the tourism board to heighten Cascais' allure and encourage more nomads to visit. One initiative in place is to provide more than 700 hotspots throughout the city. A promotional campaign called "It Works for You" has also been launched to articulate the many benefits of working remotely from here, such as a plethora of coworking spaces, and a balanced, leisurely lifestyle. Find your people here through Meetup groups, and our Whatsapp group that you'll have access to as a guest at Outsite.

Cascais has plenty of beautiful beaches to choose from. Some of the most notable include:

  • Praia do Guincho is located nearby to Outsite Cascais - Guincho, and nestled in the Serra de Sintra hills. It's known for its wild beauty, with its rugged hills leading into the water. This beach is popular among surfers as it has strong winds during the winter months, allowing for consistently good swell. In the summer months, the winds die down and it's a great spot for beachgoers as well.
    ‍
  • Praia Da Rainha is just a few steps from Rua Frederico Arouca, one of the main streets in downtown Cascais, and is nearby many cafes and restaurants. It's an especially picturesque beach with cliffs towering over the seaside.
