Location independence refers to the degree to which one's professional life ties them to a particular physical place.
Being location independent means one does not need to be in a particular location, usually for work. Location flexible is similar, but for people who perhaps have some commitments or reasons to be in a particular place some of the time.
Most people who identify as location independent leverage mobile technology to allow them to work outside a traditional office. Location independent/flexible people are often entrepreneurs or freelancers, but 60% of Outsite users are actually in full-time remote roles. It's becoming more and more common to find full-time remote work.
Of course, he only way to truly know how you'll enjoy coliving and Outsite is to experience it for yourself. Making the jump is always the hardest part, but there's lots you can check out if you're nervous.

Yes, you do have to be an Outsite Member to stay in Members Only locations. There are select locations where non-Members can stay. There are many advantages to being a Member, including Members rates, access to the Member Hub, Online Events, Deals and Perks.
Coworking refers to people working together in a shared space, often with different projects or companies.
Similar to coliving, coworking is enabled by pooling resources between people to create workspace that is both productive and less expensive for all, without making the sacrifices made by people who work from home or cafes.
While it's definitely possible to stay at Outsite if you're not working, Outsite's value will really come into focus if you're using the spaces while you're working and traveling.
If you are interested in working remotely at your current job, we recommend using this approach to negotiating for remote work. If you're looking for a new remote job, check out this post about companies hiring remote workers right now.
Outsite creates beautiful spaces to live, designed for remote workers. Membership grants you access to book all spaces, the Member Hub, Deals, Events and more.
We value our Members’ comfort and peace of mind, and we are seeking to build a community based on strong shared values. All prospective Members are vetted prior to being accepted into the community to ensure they’re a good fit for Outsite.
A few things we look for in prospective Members:
A few things we check for before granting Requests and Applications:
Members Only spaces are only accessible to guests holding an Outsite Membership. Our Open to All spaces are available to book without an Outsite Membership.
Outsite Members will always receive the best available rate, as well as extended stay discounts and deals.
We require at least 1 night between booking and check-in to make sure we will be ready to accommodate your stay.
We're constantly working on adding locations and spaces to the Outsite network so that you have plenty of options when it comes to finding availability.
However, spaces do fill up from time to time. We always recommend booking your travel at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure that you get the best room. If you ever find yourself struggling to find availability in any of our locations or spaces, feel free to reach out to reservations@outsite.co for assistance with your booking.
The same way you book a stay using many other travel websites! Choose your location and use the date options at the top of the screen to check availability, select your book, and book.
Most Guests use ridesharing apps to get to Outsite, or rent a car (Members get $35 rentals with Turo!).
Most Outsite locations are conveniently in walkable areas, close to grocery stores and other amenities so you don't need a car once you arrive.
Check out our location maps listed on each location page. More detailed directions and address information will be sent after reservation.
Most of our locations require at least a minimum 2-night stay, and others require more. To find out what it is at a particular location, simply open the booking calendar and see how close together you're able to select dates.
You can make as many bookings as you like. Many Guests and Members plan multi-Outsite trips where they jump from location to location.
Occasionally, we'll offer the ability to bid on an Outsite property.
Members will receive access to Outsite bids first.
What type of room will I get?
This depends on availability, and your bid. We'll offer the highest value rooms to the highest bids.
Can I use credit when bidding, or another promo?
You cannot use Outsite Credits or another promotion when booking your bid.
When will I find out if my bid was successful?
We'll let you know if your bid is, or isn't, successful within 3 days.
Outsite Membership is an ongoing Membership that renews yearly on the date you first joined, if you purchased the Annual Membership. Those with lifetime Membership do not have any renewals, as their Membership status is permanent. Members enjoy access to Spaces, Outsite Events, access to the Outsite Community and Members Benefits.
If you don't want your Membership to renew, that's OK too. Two weeks before your renewal date, we'll send you a few emails letting you know about the pending renewal date, and there you're free to let us know if you don't want to renew for the following year. But check your account first - you may have credit on your Outsite Rewards you won't want to lose.
Outsite's Referral Program is a fantastic way for any Outsite account holder to earn Outsite Credit toward future stays.
When a friend, colleague, or follower creates an Outsite account with your unique link, a $50 credit that can be used for a booking or Outsite Membership is placed in their account. When they book a stay or become a Member, $50 in Credit is placed in your account, too.
Please note that Outsite Credit can be used on any Outsite booking worth over $75, but can only be used for up to 50% of abooking's total value.
Outsite's not just about the location. In fact, it's a bonus that we're in great locations - but the real experience comes from immersing yourself in the community. The connections you make when you travel tend to be what makes your trip, and that's what Outsite spaces are designed for. Check out this first time experience with a 'workation' (work + vacation) on our blog.
If you're not sure about your first trip, you can connect with other Members on the Outsite Member Hub. Wondering what the vibe is like in Lisbon, or who else has visited Mexico recently? This is where to ask those questions.
We understand that circumstances can change. If you've applied for Outsite Membership, simply contact us within 24 hours of your application submission and we'll happily refund your Membership fee.
What is Outsite Rewards?
Outsite Rewards is a program aimed at rewarding loyal Members with credits toward future stays at Outsite locations worldwide.
Outsite Rewards are based on a system of Points (which determine the Membership Status a Member is given), Statuses (which determine how much credit a Member is awarded for certain actions), and Credit (which can be exchanged for cash value when booking a future stay at Outsite).
How to start using Outsite Rewards
Points are awarded to Outsite Members for staying at Outsite locations and other selected actions. 1 point is awarded for every night stayed at Outsite, while 10 points are awarded for every additional Outsite City a Member stays in. For example, if a Member stays 7 nights at Outsite Cais do Sodre and 3 nights at Outsite Venice Beach Dell, the Member would be awarded 20 points. However, if a Member stays 7 nights at Outsite Santa Cruz Natural Bridges and 3 nights at Outsite Santa Cruz Seabright, the Member will be awarded just 10 points since both spaces are in the same City.
What is my Outsite Rewards Status?
These accumulated points determine a Member's Membership Status. The Member's Status is used to determine how much Outsite Credit the Member is awarded for each 100$ they spend while staying at Outsite once they've reached that particular status.
The Status hierarchy and Rewards are as follows:
Commuter: 0-29 points. $1 per 100$ spent per stay
Traveler: 30-99 points. $2 per 100$ spent per stay
Nomad: 100+ points. $4 per 100$ spent per stay
Point accumulation is based around the date the Member's Membership begins, and points are reset yearly on the Member's start date. Once the number of Points you have surpasses the boundary for the next Status, your Status is upgraded.
If a Member is at the Commuter Status, the points are reset to zero on the one year anniversary of their Membership start date. If the Member unlocked the Traveler or Nomad Status during that year, points are reset with the remainder of points above the last Status unlocked rolling over to their next Member year. For example, if you currently have 42 Points, your Traveler Status is maintained, and you carry 12 Points to the next year.
How to find my Outsite Rewards Status
Your Rewards dashboard can be found at app.outsite.co. Log in and click on the "Rewards'' tab. There, you'll see your current Status, Points accumulated, and important dates to keep in mind for making sure you're making the most of how much Credit you could earn. You'll also see how much Credit you've spent already, giving you a clear picture of how much Rewards have helped you save.
How are Credits awarded?
Credits are awarded per stay and apply to rooms’ revenue, cleaning fees and extra guest fees.
Example 1:
If you are a Commuter member and spend a total of $1,050 during your stay, you will be awarded $10.5 credits ($1,050/$100*$1).
Example 2:
If you are a Traveler member and spend a total of $3,000 during your stay, you will be awarded $60 credits ($3,000/$100*$2).
Keep in mind that credits are valid for 2 years after their issuing date and will expire if not used.
How to use your Credit for a stay
Redeeming your Rewards is quite simple. When making a booking at Outsite, you'll be given the option to redeem Credit prior to finalizing your purchase. Simply allocate your Credit toward the stay you're booking and the Credit will be applied. Please note that Outsite Credits will only apply to 50% of your total booking price. Make sure to use your credit before it expires: 2 years after it has been awarded.
New Status Bonuses
Bonus Reward Credit is also awarded to Members who unlock a new Status. When a Member unlocks Traveler or Nomad Status, $25 in credit is awarded.
Examples of Members using Outsite Rewards
Example 1:
Member A starts their Membership June 6th, 2019. Over the course of their Member year, they stay at 1 Outsite location a total of 18 nights. By June 6th, 2020, they have been awarded 18 points and earned 1$ per 100$ spent. However, since they didn't acquire enough points to move to the Traveler Status, their points are reset to zero and they remain at Commuter for the Members year starting June 6th, 2020.
Example 2:
Let's stick with Member A, but for the year beginning June 6th, 2020. In July of 2020 they stay in two Cities for 22 nights, accruing 42 points. Having passed 30 points, they're upgraded to the Traveller Status and start earning $2 in credit for each 100$ spent they stay in addition to their $25 Status Bonus. In January and February of 2021, they stay at an additional two Cities for 43 nights, giving their an additional 63 points. Now, they've made 105 points for their Member year and have been upgraded to Nomad Status, earning them $4 for each 100$ spent after achieving that Status, plus $25 Status Bonus. On June 6th, 2021, their points are reset and 5 points roll over to their next Member year, but their Nomad Status is retained for that year, allowing them to accumulate more credit. Now, they need only to accumulate 25 points that year to retain Traveler Status, or 95 to retain Nomad Status.
Notes to Consider
Location Points (10 points for each additional Outsite city stayed at) can only be awarded once per city, even after point reset.
Membership must be maintained to retain accumulated Credits. If a Member cancels their Membership with Credits on their account, that credit will also be forfeited.
Outsite Memberships renew yearly unless renewal is cancelled. Because of that, there is no "cancellation", only setting Membership to not renew.
If you urgently want to cancel your Membership renewal, you can do so here.
Otherwise, we send several emails leading up to your renewal date where we alert you about how to cancel your renewal.

Cancellations
Our current cancellation policy still stands. An extenuating circumstance credit rewards voucher may be considered for guests who test positive for COVID-19 and notify us in advance. For more information please contact reservations@outsite.co.
You can also check out our resource list for Travel Advice across all Outsite Locations.

In the unfortunate case scenario that a guest tested positive during their stay, it would be up to the local healthcare provider to decide whether the guest needs to stay in a healthcare facility or not depending on the recommended treatment. If they approve of the guest leaving the healthcare facility and the guest does not want or cannot stay in any alternative accommodation, then the guest can stay for the duration of their stay while following the recommended COVID-19 isolation & safety guidelines.
At this time all other guests would be immediately notified of the situation and highly encouraged to get tested as soon as possible. Outsite reserves the right to terminate and/or refuse services to any guest who does not follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to reach out to reservations@outsite.co.
We strongly encourage that guests staying with Outsite are fully vaccinated a minimum of 7 days before their arrival, in-line with recommendations from the CDC and European Commission.

Cliff faces can be unstable, please beware of falling rocks or debris when in the vicinity. If you’re choosing to swim at surf beaches, beware of rip tides, and only enter the water if a lifeguard is present. When walking close to shallow water, you might find yourself in the company of a stingray or scorpion - watch your footing, and stay back when you see them.
Given the communal nature of coliving, Outsite does not accept pets at any location for individual bookings.
Outsite by law does allow service dogs. Outsite staff is allowed to ask two questions in order to determine what service the animal provides if it's not obvious:
(1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and
(2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person’s disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.
Outsite defines service animals as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs and pets whose sole function is only to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA, and will not be allowed.
If you have a service dog, please email reservations@outsite.co prior to booking.
Some rooms have keys, some do not. Details can be found on our location pages. If you'd like more details or would like to specify whether or not you would specifically like a lock on your door, please verify with reservations@outsite.co.
Towels are included with your stay, along with other amenities like sheets, laundry facilities, a well-equipped kitchen, and bathroom accessories. Outsite is designed to make you feel like you're home, even when you're away.
Some spaces do, and some do not. Email reservations@outsite.co for details.
