San Miguel de Allende is a small city, 3 hours north of Mexico City. It's best known for it's baroque, romantic architecture, however it's now a great place for digital nomads with cheap places to stay, fast Wifi, and a growing remote community.

Best neighborhoods in San Miguel de Allende 
 

Centro

This is the centre of the city, and the most popular neighborhood to visit as it's home to Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

Independencia

This neighborhood is a favorite with both locals and expats, just behind Centro.

Guadiana

Guadiana has some of the most elegant homes in San Miguel - it's also home to Outsite.

    This 17th century textile mill has been turned into a unique shopping and gallery experience - expect to come away with trinkets, locally made clothing and more. 
  • Charco del Ingenio (Botanical Gardens, San Miguel) 
    The botanical gardens are full of local cacti and endangered species of flora.
  • Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel
    The bright pink church is the crowning jewel of San Miguel de Allende, first built in 1709. Make your way into the old town to see it.

Getting Around San Miguel de Allende
 

San Miguel de Allende is very walkable, and it's the best way to see the city. Taxis are widely available if it's too hot, or raining, but generally there's a temperate climate. Due to the nature of this small, traditional city, there are not many options for parking in the centre. 
 

Is there Uber in San Miguel de Allende?

Yes, Uber is available in San Miguel de Allende. It’s a convenient option for getting around the city or traveling to areas that are further away. However, the number of drivers can be limited, especially during busy times, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead if you’re relying on Uber for transportation.

 

Do you need a visa to enter Mexico?
