Meet Digital Nomad Anna Weckerle, Artist and graphic designer

Meet Anne, an Outsite Member who has been living the digital nomad lifestyle for the past six years. As an artist and graphic designer, Anne has combined her creative passions with her love for travel, embracing a life of intuitive exploration. From creating travel guides to selling her artwork inspired by her journeys, Anne shares how she stays grounded and inspired while living a location-independent lifestyle.

When did you start working remotely?

I’ve been working remotely for 6 years and went full on nomad 3 years ago. Most of my adult life I’ve been living an expat life, that then slowly transformed into a digital nomad lifestyle, as my stays got shorter and shorter. 

Before I left my last apartment and signed up for Outsite, I had started thinking a lot about what it means to travel intuitively. So when I embarked on my digital nomad journey I set the intention to choose my destinations intuitively and in general follow my intuition quite radically and now I’m convinced that following your intuition is really the shortcut to all the good things in life. Especially when it comes to travel, for me it’s always best if I take my time landing in a place and slowly explore instead of getting swept up in all the things I “should” be doing - hello FOMO ;D 

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently building a brand for travel guides around the concept of slow and intuitive traveling and how one can stay grounded, nurture their creativity while traveling and really use their travels for deep personal growth. I am an artist and a graphic designer specialized in branding. I stopped taking clients for my design work and only use that skill now for my own projects. 

I started getting more professional about painting when I was in Ericeira and started selling my paintings to fellow Outsiters. I love selling my paintings to people I meet traveling because my art is always a reflection of where I’m at right now, so I feel like people who I meet traveling can relate to my art even better. 

Tell us about your favorite Outsite location:

Ericeira definitely has a special place in my heart, because it was my longest Outsite stay and I keep coming back. If you go, definitely book room 9 or 10. Having the sea view makes a huge difference! 

I also absolutely loved the house in Sintra (Cascais). It is a gorgeous house in the magical Sintra forest. And perfect for a stay in fall, when I often feel like some down time and just being in nature. I highly recommend getting a car, because then you can explore so many more places and interesting projects, beaches, hikes etc. in the area. By car you’re at the beach in 5 min and if you need some city life or enjoy the Ericeira expat bubble, it’s just half an hour away. 

Where was your most recent trip?

I’ve spent most of this year in Morocco and absolutely love it. I spend most of my time now between Dakhla and Marrakech, where I will also spend NYE this year. 

What is one item you always travel with?

My special blend of green and white tea which I drink every morning. I think it is so important to have little rituals to ground yourself, especially when living a location-independent lifestyle.
