Since the start of the Gold Rush, people have flocked to California. Today, prospectors have been replaced by aspiring actors, artists, tech prodigies and now — remote workers. Without the restraints of a typical 9-to-5, workers with a flexible office policy as well as those who are completely remote can experience working and living from the best coast without breaking the bank.

At Outsite, we love California and want to give our members and guests the opportunity to fall in love as well. With eight coliving spaces located throughout San Diego, Venice, Santa Cruz, and Francisco, we aim to make a visit to California's top destinations even easier.

We offer fully equipped, co-working spaces at each of our locations, that allow you to share a curated space with like-minded remote workers and entrepreneurs. So no worries, your California experience will not only grow your network and inspire productivity, but perhaps also be tax deductible. Besides co-living and co-working with a pre-vetted community of like-minded remote workers and travelers, we can also help to arrange opportunities for co-traveling across CA.

Each California city that Outsite belongs to brings its own energy and flair. It can be just as tempting to settle into one location as it is to explore them all. Should you find yourself looking for some adventure and exploration, have a look below at our CA road/train trip.

San Diego to Venice

Whether you are a native Californian, a transplant, or a tourist, we highly suggest spending at least a few nights at our Encinitas location. Less than 30 minutes from downtown San Diego, Encinitas has been voted the #1 Surf Town in America with a laid back vibe and world-class beaches.

With an average year-round temperature of 70 degrees, and more beaches than you can count, San Diego is the quintessential fun-in-the-sun escape. It's also home to this beautiful beachside house, where you can take in the ocean view from the shared workspace and relax after hours in the hot tub. and this tropical garden beach house, where you can relax in its secluded garden or take a dip in the pool out back.

Both houses offer quick access for a stroll into downtown Encinitas for some tasty fish tacos and hip shops or head to the beach and play in the Pacific.

Once you’ve soaked up the San Diego sun and a surfer mentality, move up the coast towards Venice Beach, CA — the hub of creativity and culture in Los Angeles. San Diego to Los Angeles is great if you’re looking for a relatively short road trip. It’s just 2-3 hours, depending on traffic — giving you time to enjoy attractions along the way.

You’ll travel through Carlsbad and Orange County, enjoying the beautiful sights of crystal waters, chic resorts, vineyards and orange groves, before arriving at the bright lights of legendary LA.

Once you're in Venice, make your way to one (or more!) of our three spaces. This cozy craftsman house just one minute from Venice Boulevard, this classic space, mixing classic and modern architecture, and this modern home off of Lincoln Boulevard. Walk along historic canals, explore the Venice Beach boardwalk or stroll through Abbot Kinney, the “coolest block in America.”

Venice to Santa Cruz

Had your fill of urban beach culture and ready for a bit more of a cozy, forest scene? On your way to Outsite Santa Cruz, you’ll hit mission towns and stretches coast to explore. It’s not too long of a trip, so you can take it all in at a nice, leisurely pace without losing track of your workflow.

There are plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs with bikes trails and hikes through beautiful redwood groves in the many coastal California state parks.

Once you reach Santa Cruz you’ll be in awe of the many diverse ecosystems located in a relatively small area. The Outsite villa is located one block from the ocean and scenic West Cliff Drive. There are several great beaches, quiet hidden coves and bay views within minutes of your front door. Outsite Santa Cruz is the only beach villa with co-working spaces in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Santa Cruz to San Francisco

Just a quick hour and a half drive north of Santa Cruz will bring you to San Francisco. A cultural hub known for their social and technological movements, San Francisco is an exciting place to be. Its progressivness is refreshing, and its landscape beautiful. Laden with start up tech companies, major landmarks, and some incredible restaurants, there's no shortage of things to do here, especially for the Digital Nomad. Enter: Outsite. We offer two spaces in San Francisco, the first being Outsite Pacific Heights, a spacious home in one of San Francisco's most sophisticated and sought-after neighborhoods. Enjoy panoramic views of the city, French and Spanish architecture, and two beautiful parks just minutes away. Our Outsite Mission house is a restored victorian townhouse located in the popular Mission District, minutes away from Market Street, which is lined with some of the best cafes, restaurants, and shops in the city. The Mission District offers an exciting range of diversity - representative of San Francisco itself, and is the perfect balance between taquerias and tech.
