This is one of the best places in central America for enjoying good weather, surfing, and meeting like-minded travelers. San Juan del Sur is known for gentle surf breaks in San Juan bay, and more adventurous currents out in Maderas. This is a small town that has everything you need available on foot: a fresh produce market, good coffee, and beach bars with a view of the sunset. When you're ready to explore, head to the Caribbean Corn Islands, volcano surfing in Cerro Negro or discover Ometepe - the island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua.
